Alpine Meadows

The men had a ski day yesterday.  Spencer drove he and Mac up to Alpine Meadows and met Uncle Steve there.  Mac did the ski school while Steve and Spencer snowboarded.  Mac requested that I didn't post the videos of him skiing.  He did most excellent!  I'm really excited for him.  It was a great time for them to bond.

Bowling

I asked Ryan if he would like me to sign him up for Spring soccer.  He said no, he wanted to try another sport.  So, I listed off all of the sports I could think of.  He didn't want to do any of them.  Then he said he wanted to bowl.  Well, Grandpa Gary likes to bowl so on Martin Luther King Day we took the kids bowling.  I hadn't gone in such a long time.  We had lots of fun.  Even John got in on the action.
Maddie tried her best and had some great shots.
Mac was reluctant to come at first, as he wanted to stay in the arcade.  He ended up having lots of fun.
Bonnie came along too and was fun to watch.  We had the girls on one lane and the boys on the other.
Ryan was awesome!  Thank goodness for the bumpers!!
Jeff was so fast I couldn't even get a photo of him with the ball!  By the way, I beat him!  Now Ryan is ready for soccer.

Eliza Turns 4

Eliza is four years old!  Boy, oh, boy did Delayne out-do herself with the festivities this year!!  Eliza had an awesome tea party for her little friends on Saturday.  Delayne and Julie made an awesome Barbie cake.  Delayne had crowns, toile, the works!  On Sunday, we had a family party for Eliza.  Delayne made this awesome cake.  When slices, she added a stick and the cake looked like a lollipop.  It was awesome!
It took a couple of tries, but she was able to blow out the candles all by herself!
It freaked Eliza out a bit when we all stared at her while she opened her present, so Mom had to go in and help her.  Everyone was excited to see what she got.  I'm so excited for this year for Eliza.  She has grown so much and is really starting to be a fun little person to play with!!

John loves Zane

John is loving not being the baby.  He has figured out that he is John now, and doesn't refer to himself as baby.  John loves baby Zane.  Sometimes he loves him too much, but this day, he was a great big boy and held Zane so nicely.  I think this is one of those photos that I'll keep looking at forever.  It really captures John and his sweetness, plus Zane looks so great too - eyes wide open looking right at the camera!  This picture really catches how much John looks like Ryan too.  Crazy!

Happy 2nd Birthday Wyatt!

My nephew Wyatt is already 2 years old!  We went to Chuck E. Cheese's to celebrate.  That place drives me bonkers, so I wasn't able to get very good pictures.  It was a cold rainy day and that place was packed!
John's favorite were the rides.  He rode the same little thing over and over until he ran out of tokens.
 Wyatt loved the party favors!
Wyatt got some cars for his birthday.  He and John love playing with them!

New Year's Eve 2010

New Year's Eve started with a visit from Grampie, Aimee, and little Wyatt.  While we were draining a bit off the top of the pool, Wyatt got busy in the mud!
Ryan wanted to be a helper.  He vacuumed major leaves off of the bottom of the pool.  By the way, this is Ryan's favorite outfit.  This is what he wears every time it's clean.  Boots and all!!
We held our usual family party on New Year's Eve.  This year for fun we played several games from Minute to Win It (thanks for the idea Kayla!).
Here, Julie is trying to keep three balloons in the air with one hand.
Jake is trying to stack 3 golf balls.
Spencer is trying to stack 28 cups into a pyramid and then stack them all back again.
Here Julie and Jen are desperately trying to empty a box of tissues with just one hand.  They both finished in a minute, but Julie was a bit faster...

Meanwhile, the kids watched movies and ran around.  They played a few games with the grown-ups too!
By the end of the night, we were playing Scum.  I was Scum and so was Mac.  Delayne did not make it as president this year - I think that's a first!
Happy New Year's!

I Like Baked Beets

I baked beets for the first time this week.  It turns out that I like them.  I really had fun baking them, and cutting them.  My hands turned a lovely shade of red.  It turns out that I like goat cheese too.  Unfortunately, my kids do not.  I made a wonderful (some might say, fancy) salad that went totally unappreciated.  Well at least I liked it.  :)
