Air Show and Yo-Yo Fun!

This Saturday the Woods and the Smiths headed off to the air show. I LOVED it! I really can't get enough of the air show. I really wish I could have hung out there all day. It was hot, I have to say - but not so bad as last year. The real bummer of the morning was that they kids zone didn't have the airplane kits ready for kids to put together at all. Macky went by three times and they didn't have it for him. That is his favorite part. I'm not sure what happened there.
We all loved watching the planes and parachuters. We had a great lunch, thank you Northern California National Bank. We looked at tons of great old planes and military planes. The kids even got to try out an old military helicopter. The veterans were there helping the kids and showing them how things worked, it was fantastic. Then we got super yummy funnel cakes and some lemonade from good ol' Uncle Doug. Man that guy can cook!!

Once we got home, we decided to head over to Bird in Hand to check out the Yo-yo guys. Every Saturday they have a group of kids there yo-yoing like crazy! If you learn certain tricks you can get a free t-shirt! It was a blast to watch them. I think Mac may want to join up and try to get a free shirt! We also went in to the museum and saw their giant yo-yo. I found out this Saturday that it actually works. Back in 1996, then hooked it up to a crane and let it rip! Can you believe that? Just awesome... I love Chico.

Ryan's Art

Ryan still has one week left before preschool starts for him. We have been going a bit crazy to try and keep him occupied. He's started Phonics Pathways, Brain Quest, and some numbered flash cards. We do puzzles and games, and read, read, read. Still it is not enough for this energetic 4 year old! So, I busted out some art supplies. I usually hate to because of the mess, but since it's just the two of us hanging out, I gave it a shot. He painted and glued a nice little wooden train. You can get the sets for $1 at Michael's. They also have boats, cars, and other things to put together. You just can't beat it! Ryan had a great time with the project!

John's 6 Month Check Up

John went in for his 6 month check up last Friday. He is 17 pounds 10 ounces and 28 inches long. He is in the 50-75 percentile for weight and 90-95 percentile for height. His motor development is still behind and so the doctor will refer us to Far Northern Regional Center for some possible physical therapy. He had three shots!
He is a very happy, mellow baby. He is very easy to have around. Now, if I could just get him to stick to a schedule and sleep...

Rock Creek Video

Rock Creek

Yesterday was a big day for us! We started off with a Primary activity for our ward. Macky was Samuel the Lamanite. He taught groups of kids about Samuel and then stood on a table and let kids throw wet sponges at him. Hilarious! That was the last thing he needed to do to earn his religious knot badge for cub scouts.
After the Primary activity, Spencer took Mac and Ethan to Rock Creek for some fun.
Don't they look tough?
The boys also went to "the bridge." I can't believe what they did there!! In the photo below, Macky is the top jumper.
The boys got back just in time for me to head over to Delayne's for her baby shower. We just can't wait for baby Lilly to come! I'm glad that we live so close and can celebrate together. I want to especially thank Kim for making another beautiful cake for me!

Spencer at His Finest

I found this picture today online. One of our friends took it when we were vacationing near Yellowstone. Spencer had the time to think of something fun to do, and this is what he came up with. The boys had a blast and I was horrified! He sent them down the side of a hill in those tubes!

Happy 11th Anniversary!

Spencer and I were married 11 years ago. We were married in the Oakland Temple. It doesn't seem like it's been that long. We have had great fun together and I look forward to our future together. I still just never know what's going to happen when I'm with Spencer - and I like it!

Park Day

Yesterday I took the little boys to the park near our home. Ryan felt so grown up. He pushed John in his very first swing experience. Ryan also took John down the slide for the very first time. I think they would have had a blast had it not been 100 degrees!! We only stayed for 30 minutes, but I can see that these two boys will have lots of fun together.

Happy Birthday Aunt Delayne!

The whole family came over last night to celebrate Aunt Delayne's birthday. We swam and ate delicious food (thanks Doug!). Delayne is so beautiful in her very pregnant state. We just can't wait for Lilly to come. I really wanted to get a picture of John sitting comfortably on Aunt Delayne's tummy. He seems to fit just perfectly up there. He only has two more weeks to enjoy his special spot.

Chandler has Braces!

Chandler has new braces. He couldn't eat an apple. I just can't believe how grown up he is. It's really fun to have a cousin like him around for my kids. They see what he does and know that soon that will be them too. It really makes things easier. He's doing very well with the braces and looks good, don't you think?

6 Months and Two Teeth

I can't believe it, but John is now 6 months and has two teeth. He slept through the night a couple of times last week and I hope now that the second tooth is completely through, he will sleep through the night more often. We've started to feed him baby food. So far he has had applesauce, sweet potatoes, pears, bananas, and of course rice cereal. My friend Alicia recommended I mix the baby food with rice cereal and it's been great. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to do that before, but it really makes getting some of those foods into John's mouth easier. I hope you all appreciate this picture of John's teeth - I had to take a million shots to get a good one!

First Day of School

It's begun again. Another school year. This year Mac is in fourth grade. His teacher is Mrs. Sloan, who was my 6th grade teacher. Maddie is in second grade. She is in a 1st/2nd combo class. Ryan doesn't start preschool until after labor day, but got dressed in his new shoes and shirt anyway. It was a fun and busy morning. I can't wait for them to come home and tell me all about it!

Lake Almanor in August

Last weekend we were able to go to Lake Almanor again. This time we were able to get my brother up to visit as well as our good friends the Woods. We spent as much time as possible on the Lake. Macky is now a proficient kneeboarder. I tried wakeboarding again and definitely need to get into better shape! I didn't get any great pictures of it, but the kids spent tons of time on the beach too. For some reason, I just forgot to take out the camera very much this trip. I think I'm ready to be done with vacations for a while!!

Bear Badge

Tonight we had a fun family night at Cub Scouts. Ryan was so happy to be included. They did a fun relay-race where the kids had to put on dinosaur feet and walk around a chair, carrying an egg on a spoon. Ryan was allowed to carry the egg in his hand because he is so little. Some parents were constantly reminding the boys that it wasn't a competition, as the boys were freaking out trying to beat each other. Not a competition...whatever!
Elaine made these cool eggs that had the awards inside. Mac really liked breaking his open.Mac earned his Bear Badge. He's been working on it since his birthday in February. He will start working on arrow points now. He has to wait until his next birthday to start Webelos. He also earned a badminton and baseball belt loop. Way to go Mac!

Mary's Baby Shower

Last weekend I got to spend some time with my good friends from college. Oh how I miss them! I didn't even realize how much! Shannon showed up Friday night with her hubby and we had a blast catching up. Saturday morning was all business. I don't even think I fed them breakfast! We all worked together to throw a party for Mary - who is pregnant with identical twin girls! I think the party turned out well and we had great fun hanging out. Mary's twins should arrive sometime before Thanksgiving.A special thanks to Kim for making this beautiful cake. Everyone raved over it!! It was just as delicious as it is pretty. It was perfect for our peas in a pod theme.
